2012 Northern Region AOY Small Boat Division |
Chriss Knowing they wouldn't have time to practice much if at all before the events this year, Chriss & Russ still went in with the specific goal of taking home the Small Boat AOY. "The other small boat teams do a great job, so we knew we had to put fish in the boat when it counted this year to have a shot. 46mph on the water might seem fast to some people, but when we look back through the outboard spray on those dim mornings, we feel a little like a heavy bomber with a flight of fighter jets bearing down on us & 46 suddenly feels like crawling through mud." They plan their tournaments knowing time is more of a factor them & they don't have the storage to carry a tackle shop, and they enjoy the challenge. Chriss was born with a 3 acre bass pond on his property, and he & his cousin Russ, who is more like a brother, have been fishing together for anything that swims since they could hold a rod. They've fished tournaments sporadically in the past, but have committed to team circuits together over the last three years. Time was more scarce this year since Chriss & his wife have a 15 month old son (whose first word was "fish,") & Russ started his job as a Deputy Sheriff, but they couldn't give up their addiction to the competition, camaraderie and FISHING that came with Randy's tournaments. It's been a great year, and they're look forward to many more with the BBT!
Chriss & Russ would like to thank their families for their support, Randy & Sheri Pringle for the effort they put into the BBT for the anglers, and Dean & the gang at Hi's Tackle Box.
